dance photography
Appreciating a wonderful form of art through another – photographing dancers is an interesting experience. Dancers are usually in their own world with a different frame of mind, oblivious to anything happening around them. It is a test of the photographer’s skill to capture the crucial action moment. Although the dancers do pose for the camera, many of the shots will have to be clicked during high speed movements, where the photographer will have to be alert for split second captures. Be it traditional dance forms or modern styles, the mood of the dance will have to be reflected in the photos. Every dance form is different and the photographer will have to capture the uniqueness of each style.
I usually encourage the dancers to forget that a camera is there and just dance – it then becomes my responsibility to capture the perfect shots while they dance.
